Thermotek Bays & Bows

What is the difference between bay & bow window?

Basic Differences Between Bay & Bow Windows is that bay windows consist of a picture window at the center with two different windows on both sides. A bow window uses the same style of window in each section, and the whole structure is curved with much smaller angles.

Advantages to a Bay or Bow Window

  • Dramatic transformation to both the inside and the outside of the home
  • Combination of three or more lights
  • Outer windows are angled at different degrees back toward wall
  • On bow window, panels radiate out to form semi-circle
  • Multiple roofing , size, opening and design options available

Why are Bay or Bow Windows more expensive?

Bay & Bow windows are more expensive to install than other window types due to their size and complicated design. The window installers require special knowledge in fitting this design and it's finishing as well as additional help for installations, and the installers may need to cut into your existing interior and exterior finishes to strategically fit the window.

Wider field of view

By just adding a Bench Bay to your home you can now have a wider field of view of your property and can enjoy the scenery or watch the kids play.

Bench Style Bay & Bow

While some people use them as a spot to display plants or knick-knacks, with a Bench Bay window in your home you can now see more view of your property and enjoy the scenery or watch the kids play.

Bench Seat Bay & Bow

A bay window seat can be a beautiful addition to your home.

Consider adding some cozy pillows or blankets. This will make it even more inviting as a spot to curl up with a book or take an afternoon nap. You could also add a small table to the seat, which would be perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.

Whatever you decide to do make sure it’s a space that you enjoy spending time in. It’s a great way to add a touch of charm to any room!

Walk out Floor Extension Bay & Bow

The most complicated of them all are the "Floor Extensions".  This requires, concrete cutting, floor joist extensions, roofs, heat duct moving and likely new floors being required to be redone.  But once it is complete you can walk entirely out into the structure of the Bow Window and stand and admire the views outside, as well as adding living area inside the home.  It's always a perfect spot to showcase that Christmas tree come wintertime.
