Definition
A Hopper Window is designed to be used in basements for fire egress only. A hopper is hinged at the top and swings inwards and upwards. There is a notch on each hinge to allow the sash to rest in an open position allowing airflow, however they are not near as energy efficient as other windows and should only be considered for minimal use and fire egress.
